China Expands Transit Visa-Free Policy to 10 Days, Adds 21 New Ports

Starting December 17, 2024, China has extended its transit visa-free policy to allow travelers from 54 countries, including the US, UK, and Canada, to stay for up to 240 hours (10 days). This is an increase from the previous 72 and 144-hour limits.

Additionally, 21 new ports have been added, bringing the total to 60 across 24 provinces. These include Taiyuan Wusu International Airport and Wuxi Sunan Shuofang, among others.

The stay areas have also been expanded, allowing visa-free travelers broader access across multiple provinces. For example, travelers can now explore entire provinces such as Anhui, Hainan, and Guizhou.

To qualify, travelers need a valid international travel document, a connecting ticket to a third country, and must meet specific entry conditions.

This move aims to boost tourism and streamline transit through China.
