Mr. José Luis de Sales Marques served as the Mayor of Macau from 1993 to 2001. He has also held prominent positions such as President of the Macau Environmental Council and Deputy Director of the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO). Additionally, he was the President of the Institute of European Studies of Macau, founder of the Center for Creative Studies, and a former member of the Cultural Industry Fund.

Throughout his 40-year career, Mr. Marques has dedicated significant attention to the arts and culture, both as an administrator and promoter. He is also an educator and writer on topics related to urbanism, economics, and international relations. Furthermore, Mr. Marques is a founding member of the Architecture – Culture – Environment Seminars.

Mr. Marques holds a licentiate degree in Economics from the University of Porto and a master’s degree in European Affairs from the University of Macau.
