Virginia Trigo is Professor emerita and Consultant for China Academic Affairs at Iscte University Institute of Lisbon and was the founding president of the Institute For Tourism Studies of Macau (IFTM), now Macau University of Tourism (UTM) where she served until 2001. She holds a PhD in Management from Iscte and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Lester Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, University of California, Berkeley. She has been working and living in China since 1989 and is Visiting Professor at several Chinese and European Universities and has a vast experience of teaching internationally. For her services in higher education, in 2019 she received the title of Commander of the Order of Merit by the President of the Republic of Portugal.
